This paper is a charmer!
I buy the paper in large format, then fold and tear it to size (rather than cutting it) for the feeling of soft edges that blend well with the beautiful deckle edges of this handmade paper.
I punch the holes and hand stitch each set of pages directly to the leather cover with waxed Irish linen thread.
This oldschool binding style allows the journal to lay flat open to any page-- even open fully to 180 degrees without damaging the binding.
This paper is incredibly light weight, making the 256 page journal easy and enjoyable to carry hiking, cycling, or for daily use: a sweet companion. These pages take ink on both sides without bleeding through.

> About the paper: all-natural sustainable handmade Lokta paper.
This paper-- handmade by the traditional methods of the region-- is from the bark of the Lokta bush from the mountains of Nepal. Because this bark has long strong fibers, the paper can be made quite thin, yet substantial enough for ink on both sides. Such beautiful vegetable-dye color!
Lokta paper is expensive... but you are supporting cooperatives making sustainable paper, all natural, traditional, practical, unusual, and hand-bound into a charming journal by a leather artisan / journal lover.
During a 2year cycling trip in Europe, I certainly learned to appreciate the particular qualities of Lokta paper, since it was light enough to carry several journals! :)

Papyrus was, and continues today to be handmade from the papyrus reed that grows in freshwater marshes along the river Nile, though today this growth is rare and controlled. Egyptians considered it the "everlasting" paper because it has been found in perfect condition in tombs dating back to 2700 B.C
This nod to the history of papermaking will be a conversation piece with anyone who looks at your Nuance Journal! It has beautiful texture and serves as the first and last page of the journal.

Over time, it will develop a patina from the oils of your skin. It's only more beautiful with time!
